Designing a different future

Community center that will serve the various communities in the city of Beer Sheva. The main activity at the center will be the project of designing a race car, which is currently in progress at Ben Gurion University of the Negev. In the program, Engineering and computer science students will participate and each student will be integrated
with youth from the city who will be an active part of the project, will be exposed to the engineering work and the studies at the University. The center will open for them opportunities for a different future.

The center contains diverse workshops, a tribune which will serve as a place for lectures by various high-tech organizations and companies, computer classes for software programming, meeting rooms for various departments, a club where you can rest, and administrative offices.

EXPERIENCE THE SPACE

The connection between the building and the city was an important basis for the planning. Furthermore the connection between the iconic structure and the new elements that will be incorporated into it. There is a thinking about the details that combine one material in to the other and creates contrast and interest.

The axis of movement is the central part of the structure. A walk in it generates loitering and allows the visitor to experience the various functions in the structure

GRID OF MATERIALS

The various work positions in the workshop allows group work, personal work and incorporate the tools and materials needed during the work. The materials library is integrated into the grid and allows the light to penetrate
through it.

SPACE INTERACTION

On the first floor there is an upper area overlooking the lecture space, the interaction between the spaces creates openness and provides an experience of a full-life learning center.

On the second floor are located a computer classroom, the administration office area and conference rooms used by the center's activities and are open for the use of the neighborhood residents.

SOUTHERN FAÇADE

The design of the front creates an openness between the outside and the inside and gives a glimpse of what is happening in the center. Allows light to enter the building and invites people to come in.

EXTERNAL PLANNING

The design allows sitting and lounging in a free-form manner. The materiality continues the interior design, using wood, concrete and white steel. The shading systems continues the geometric line and the clear grid of the structure, allowing the vegetation to grow on them and produce shade.
